Independence Grove Forest Preserve Thai Wedding – Auratip + Francis

Auratip and Francis got married at the beautiful Independence Grove Forest Preserve. The day started out with photos around the forest preserve, the bride wearing a simple, yet oh-so-elegant bridal gown. To stay close to the bride’s culture, the newly wedded couple participated in the traditional Thai water ceremony. This is especially important in a Thai wedding, as it is when the bride and groom officially become husband and wife. Placed atop their heads is a Mongkol, a traditional headpiece blessed by a monk. This headpiece is connected, signifying unity between the couple. With the bride and groom kneeling with hands in a prayer-like position, family and friends take turns pouring holy water over their hands using a conch shell and giving them marital advice. After the water ceremony, Auratip and Francis changed back into their American wedding attire for cocktail hour and a dinner reception. Seeing a different culture integrated into a traditional Western wedding is always such a fun, meaningful experience. With each step of the day, you could definitely tell the love and devotion these two have for each other. The bride was absolutely radiant!
